Turner Bros. Bank-Comanche
A photograph of the Turner Bros. Bank in Comanche. The bank would have been a private, unincorporated institution. On the reverse side of the photograph is written “C.R. Redden De Leon Texas” but no date or other information is provided. C.R. Redden was the brother of Emilie R. Redden who married Dr. Burr D. Turner of Comanche. While that seemingly indicates a family tie with the Turner brothers, no identification of the brothers were has been located. Dr. Turner and Emilie’s father, Dr. R.D. Redden partnered in Comanche prior to February 1882 when the Redden family moved to De Leon.
Confusing the issue somewhat is the adjacent Chilton & Campbell store. In 1887 the Comanche National Bank was organized with J.B. Chilton serving as President and J.D. Campbell a director. Furniture, boxes and a buggy are stacked along the sidewalk on the left of the building.
