Shakespeare Club
The De Leon Shakespeare Club was organized on April 11, 1921. In its early years, the club founded the De Leon Public Library in 1928 and constructed the entrance gates to the De Leon Cemetery in the mid-1930s. It also planted a pecan tree and placed a marker in honor of World War I veterans at the high school (now the site of the First United Methodist Church).
